We're here to help stop guys worrying and feel positive about what they've got. Below are two very different real-life stories that revolve around mental health and circumcision. This website hopes to de-stigmatise conversations about these tough subjects. The consequences of discomfort with circumcision related issues can be shockingly tragic as you will learn below.
Alex Hardy
Where I once had a sexual organ I have now been left with a numb, botched stick," he wrote. "My sexuality has been left in tatters.
Alex Hardy died by suicide at the age of 23 after the consequences of his circumcision.
Alex was a Brit who fell in love with Canada and had gained residency. In an email he sent to his mum just before his death, he revealed that he had struggled with phimosis, and that a urologist had rushed him down the surgical path without fully preparing him for the risks or side effects. "I had issues with a tight foreskin," he wrote in his final email, "but from my late teens it created issues in the bedroom as it meant my foreskin would not retract over the glans as intended which caused some awkward moments."
The doctor rejected nonsurgical alternatives to circumcision. There are other ways of managing phimosis, including using steroid cream and stretching techniques. "He immediately suggested circumcision," Alex wrote. "I asked about stretching and he completely lied to my face and said it would not work for me. I was mostly trusting as I felt he was the expert who knew best in this regard."
Much to his regret, Alex was not able to research properly at the time because his laptop was broken. He had tried researching the topic in a public computer space but felt uncomfortable, and also felt it was "too much of a taboo" to discuss with friends. So Alex booked what he believed was a minor procedure and had the surgery in 2015, at the age of 21.
"These ever-present stimulated sensations from clothing friction are torture within themselves; they have not subsided/normalised from years of exposure," he wrote. "Imagine what would happen to an eyeball if the eyelid was amputated?"
Alex also wrote about experiencing erectile dysfunction, and burning and itching sensations, particularly from a scar which sat where his frenulum was removed. The frenulum is a band of tissue where the foreskin attaches to the under surface of the penis. "Through its absence I can certainly verify it is the most erogenously sensitive area of the penis and male body overall," he wrote.
"If someone were to amputate your clitoris you may begin to be able to understand how this feels."
He wrote about experiencing cramps and contractions in his muscles and "uncomfortable" sensations which extended deep into his abdomen. "Where I once had a sexual organ I have now been left with a numb, botched stick," he wrote. "My sexuality has been left in tatters."
He asked: "Nature knows best - how can chopping off a section of healthy tissue improve nature's evolved design?" "If I were a female (in Western nations) this would have been illegal, the surgeon would be a criminal and this would never have been considered as an option by doctors," Alex wrote."I do not believe in championing one gender over another but I feel strongly that gender equality should be achieved for all."

Frank Vitkovic
"the seeds of doom were planted very early, as early as eight years of age several incidents hurt and change me so much there was no hope of being the same... then I changed slowly but surely. I didn't it want to happen"
What changed Frank? Frank Vitkovic was born in Melbourne 7 September 1965 to a Croatian father, and an Italian mother. He grew up in the suburb of West Preston and attended the now defunct Marist Brothers Redden Catholic College in Preston. At eight years old the school forced him to undress in a swimming locker room. Frank due to his parent's heritage was not circumcised, making him the odd one out at an exclusive 1970s all boys school in Melbourne. There followed years of abuse and torture about his uncircumcised penis, and he was known as "Vit the Dick" until University.
"After this nudity was a dirty word for me ... I knew that normal sex was not possible for me and I avoided girls completely." In another entry, he wrote "I am the odd man out there's no doubting it, an alien amongst your own".
Vitkovic became jelious of Anglo Aussies, who his torturers had been, "I hate them cos they've been the ones who've lumped shit on me all these years. . . they have all the things I want but will never have. They are all pigs. And pigs always end up in the slaughterhouse."
Frank Vitkovic decided to kill his former school friend and tennis partner Con Margelis, who he illogically felt had betrayed him after being a trusted friend through thick and think. Vitkovic went to the Telecom Credit Union office on the 5th floor of 191 Queen St, Melbourne where Margelis worked. Mr Margelis survived, but eight others didn’t.
